I'm getting into a debate with the independent dealer who's selling me my M12.
It's being serviced by a registered Noble garage prior to sale. They have told me that the front tyres need replacing becuse the tracking has been out for some time and worn them unevenly.
The independent dealer feels that the front tyres are not that old and shouldn't need replacing.
Waddya reckon, guys? Does it REALLY need new tyres? They look in fairly good condition, as I recall.

If they say the need doing stand your ground and get them done whats the overall cost the the supplying dealer £300 ish for the pair ..... i guess that they are not down to illegal limits but would you risk driving a 170 MPH car on iffy tread??

More than that, its a good bargaining tool to get free tyres What spec of car are you looking at?

p.s. Don't let them fob you off with some crappy cheap tyres, demand OEM

I'm afraid I haven't got any pics of the tryes - they're still finishing the service at the mo.
I checked the tyres when I put down a deposit and they looked in good condition, but I didn't look that closely. The tread was more than adequate.
It's an M12 2.5, 2002 model with 9500 on the clock. It's in good nick but I don't want to be driving it on dodgy tires.
The independent dealer said he'd put on OEMs, but ONLY if he felt they needed doing. Hmm.

Well depending on how they are worn, they'd probably just even out if the tracking is sorted

why not go halves on the new tyres and get them to give you the replacement boots so that you can assess them/use them yourself (or save them for track days)

That's what the seller said. I don't want to take the p*ss out of him either - I'm nice like that.
Think I might take your advice too, Morten. He's talking about knocking the cost of the tyres off the price. Sweet!

Cheers all.
