Do you really want to rely on Chinese replica parts sold via Ali baba.

Fitting instructions look challenging:

So many "apparently genuine parts" are actually Chinese replicas. This is one of the bugbears of Dom at Powers Performance. How do you get the word out to new owners, the more naive or even people who know no better?

The actual parts may cost more but how many times better are they?

That would very much depend on whether AP for example outsource production to a Chinese manufacturer. I suspect they don’t. The actual parts may cost more but how many times better are they?

Dom bangs on about TVR parts sourcing stuff from China. For certain parts which are no longer produced for the car, I’m guessing this is the only way to do limited production runs as on shore produced items would simply be too costly to retail to the average TVR owner.
As to whether they’re equal quality or inferior, being a risk averse kind of guy, I’d categorise brake discs and pads as one of those components that you probably don’t want to skimp on.
Once you add the shipping and the time factor to these Chinese brakes how big a saving are you making? I probably still wouldn’t entertain them at a 50% saving... and on any first runs of this spec disc that they do, you will become the tester. So if they warp after driving 100 miles your then back into relaying this to the supplier and trying again. Too much hassle for me.

Agree with M4tti.
Brakes are an area you want to spend money, especially on a car like this.
I've heard anecdotal evidence of Chinese brake discs warping very quickly or not being able to handle aggressive pads which have just become completely trashed on a very track day well before the pads had worn much.
It might sting to spend a penny, but dickass could leave you beside a messy bush, limp from a nasty accident and wishing you had been better protected.
