General Gassing Forum Humourless?

Anyone else giving up on this formerly witty and knowledgeable forum as some folk can’t see irony or take a joke? I felt annoyed that a new poster felt this way because of grammar fascism but lack of humour is potentially a bigger discouragement

In all honesty, I think forums are what you make of it. Probably 50% of my posting is serious, the other 50% intended to be funny or ironic. Obviously, context is everything, so some humour will never translate across accurately on the page. You mentally (at least I do) get a feel for personalities, and like any large gathering, there will be some people you won’t get on with. I’m sure I’m that person to some people too.

Rather than worry about it, just enjoy the good threads, it is still worth it overall. Marque specific tends to be nicer than GG, or come on over to the 1-5 barge thread, we’re all amiable there!
