Well if he needs a 7 seater automatic then you've got loads of options:

Personally if he wants something cheap to service and fix then I'd say go for the Ford S-Max

After just selling our Zaff i would advise anyone to avoid buying one!
Would of been cheaper and more beneficial if it had spontaneously combusded

No need to hand in your PH card it's the car that suits his needs best so tell him to get one there are some other options but the Zafira is nigh on impossible to beat when you take spec age & mileage into account:
