Hi

Ive just become the owner of a very cheap 2005 BMW 320CD Vert. Needs a few bits sorting but can't really complain for £1400!

Someone tells me that the colour is quite a rarity, now I'm an E39 guy and this is my first 46 so haven't a clue about them.

Colour is Monaco Blue.

Any ideas?

Trying to source some wings, in colour and that's about as easy as finding a hen's tooth.

That's what Google said too. But nope, the sticker under the bonnet confirms MonacoBlau Metallic.

No worries and Thanks. It does need a few quid spending (previous owner decided they liked the look of a kerb and smacked it NS wheels, side on) hence the price.

New wheels already in the garage (genuine staggered MV2s in spectacular nick) and once I've finished with it you'll be able to eat your dinner off of it biggrin

Interesting!

All I have at the moment, current state is: dormant sat in the corner of the drive looking sorry for itself!

I'll keep this updated as i move through the car, moving it to my unit on Saturday to start the proper work smile

New wheels on and gave it a quick jet wash to clear the crap from it. Will be giving it a full body mop and decontamination (not in that order) soon.

Unfortunately, I must of dislodged something as the rear shoe came away and started locking the wheel up.

Win some you loose others..

Sounds like new backplate time (and wheel bearing).

May well be. It's sat in my local garage for tomorrow, new pads, discs and shoes. (I personally hate fitting brake shoes!)

Not sure on wheel bearing just yet, mech thinks it's fine. I'm sure as he takes it apart he will find out.

The common problem is the backplate rusts and the shoe securing pins fall off. You can’t get the backplate off without pressing the bearing out.

So I've heard, sometimes the driveshaft doesn't like to be removed from the hub either. I haven't got the ramp to be able to fiddle with driveshafts, bearings etc so I'll leave it up to my mechanic. He's normally pretty good.

Will await the bill!

Better update y'all

New rear brakes, backing plate and shoes, plus an MOT for £275 which I didn't think was bad.

Here it is as it stands, awaiting a new wing and possibly a new steering rack as can't get it aligned, alignment guys think it might of slipped a tooth in the rack.

Time will tell.
