How do people tolerate and cope with frustration, its getting to the point now where every stupid decision people make is sending me insane. I've just come home from a job after just an hour again because the person I was working with was doing everything backwards as far as I was concerned.

I can go to a job, eye it up and work out the most hassle free way of doing things in next to no time, but the other people I work with wont listen and seem to do everything the hard way. I should be able to just let them get on with it but recently I just cant cope with it.

Whats going on? Are there any drugs you can take for this?

Are you the same person that recently posted you left a job because the house was too hot?

Yep, and got the train home from Leeds last Sunday because the job was a st tip and we had no gear.

In the past I could just about cope whilst swearing under my breath but just lately I have got zero tolerance for anything going wrong that could be easily avoided. I know everyone makes mistakes but some of the stuff that does go wrong is verging on the moronic.

I this is a serious question, you should look at what else is going on in your life. Are you feeling out of control of your personal life? Family issues? Is someone close to you unwell? Your capacity for tolerance may be lower due to some of these factors.

Or maybe you're just becoming a grumpy old git smile

Old motorbikes. Music on, holed away in the garage with my bikes and my spanners. Wonderful. Or a blast round the countryside if the weather's nice. Don't ride frustrated though.

Are you the boss?

1. If you are, make them do it your way.

2. If you are not, leave them to make their own mistakes or report them if its unsafe etc.

3. If you are not, mind your own business?

Nothing wrong in my personal life, luckily I don't need much money to live on, so no worries there, it just that I see work as a social encounter and to have a good time doing. I could get work driving to the other end of the Country, doing a weeks work by myself and staying in a crappy Travelodge, but that is my idea of absolute hell. I like doing the work what we have always done but as long as I call the shots, because without sounding too big headed, I'm always right.

Learn to switch off and learn to dismiss. Don't take work home with you; when you leave work, revert to form and chill out. If something irritates you or annoys you; learn to dismiss it as chances are strong that it's really not that important.

I might well be but if I got my own way I'd be all smiles and a laugh and a joke. I want to know how I can cope with the idiots, it doesn't take much at all at the moment to wind me up.

That's sounds like me, I get so frustrated with nearly everyone at work, people make hard work out of everything that is easy.

I can't be arsed to even explain all of it because it will spoil my day.

This. I work with someone who always thinks he's right. Absolute pain in everyone's arse. He never sees the big picture or fully understands the situation, just assumes his way is right all the time.

How do you know you are doing it right and they dont think you are the idiot?

Just let it go as best you can. You havent even considered you may not be right.

Maybe, this is a typical example. I get told job is ready, I think right I can have this done in 4 hours and be back at home before the rush hour, nice and simple and stress free. I get to the job and there are 500 boxes in the room and someone who is already there is stood about doing nothing when they could have emptied the room and got it ready.

Now I get paid for the amount of time I'm there and could shift the boxes myself but why should I, the other lad who I work with would be happy to move the boxes round all day if he was getting paid for it but for some reason it pisses me right off, firstly because I've been lied to because the job quite clearly isn't ready and secondly its fked my plans for the day up.

Hard to tell if this is a get it all off my chest rant thread or genuinely looking for a discussion and potential solutions, but I am going to assume the latter.

If you find yourself uncharacteristically angry for no real reason, or stressed and cross about stuff that normally goes over your head. You might find that those things have a medical root. Some medical conditions cause these types of change in behaviour. Maybe you could go and see your doctor.

Again trying not to sound big headed I am nearly always right. I'ts not even about being right, I just have the brains to picture the easy way of doing things, its probably because no-one else is interested, they're just drones.

Take another example, you have 50 metres of cable to pull through 4 joists and leave 40 metres coiled up on the other side, now the holes are half full of cables already so you have to be careful not to damage the other ones. I came in to the room and someone was pulling the full 50 metres slowly through the joists when it was clearly obvious to me that you just had to feed the 10 metres through from the other end. Things like that frustrate me beyond reason.
