The Sagaris and the C3
Discussion
Having watched Fifth Gear last week and seen the Sagaris being put round the track, every time I saw it, it reminded me of the Corvette C3 with it's orange paint and high swept front arches. Ironic given the C6 was supposed to evoke the C3 but instead evokes something bland and styleless.
On the Sagaris: not only did bits of the knobs fall off
it was also said that it shouldn't be used as a daily driver!!
Oh - and they also spent £23K on a 178mph Lotus only for it to break (its gearbox anyway!!) They could have spent £17-£20K on a nice ZR1, it wouldn't have broke, would have got 185mph and they could have spent a few grand shoving a turbo on it and easily got their 200mph car...
Oh well!

My thoughts were much the same based around C5. The Esprit is tuned a fair amount when it leaves the factory so many components are already under stress. Further tuning can easily cause breakage. The same might be true of trying it with a TVR. C5/C6 leaves the factory ready for 100,000 miles of trouble-free use so is more or less bullet-proof leaving plenty of scope for tuning. Also the tail of Esprit tends to go light at high speed which is why many of the high power models needed a big wing for downforce. Squared-off tail on C5 gives good stability to very high speeds so if any wing is needed it should only have to be small - so less drag - so easier to crack 200 mph. And the speedo in Euro cars reads to 300 mph....
