Factory A4 Suspension options
Discussion
Hello, any one got an opinion? I'm about to lease an A4 Avant S-Line trim just for commuting and occasional weekend family trips. Some reviews especially What Car? are raving about the "Comfort Dynamic" set up from the SE/Sport saying it is worth downgrading to from the S Line "Sport" suspension. I know Adaptive is going to be the best but as a cost option its not going to happen. Is the Sport a bit harsh on 18"s for general pootling around? I suppose the car looks a bit better sitting lower and is more efficient due to that, but really it's the comfort aspect I'm worried about.
Hi I have a A4 Avant Black Edition arriving soon with 19 inch wheels which has the s line 20 mm suspension. I know it will be terrible around town but as most of my driving is on the motorway I decided to keep the standard setup. I had a B8 A4 S Line with 18 inch before and that was pretty bad around town but I managed to improve it slightly by changing the tyres to a different type once the original tyres needed replacing.
The A4 options list for suspension setup it awkward. The TDI Ultra models get the sport suspension as standard to help the their efficiency and i dont think you can change it on the Ultra models unless its the S-Line and you can;
""The Sport suspension gives drivers a dynamic driving experience and presents the vehicle in an even more sporty light.
Lowered by 20mm compared to Comfort Dynamic suspension, with stiffer suspension and damping for more direct contact with the road and even sportier handling.
TDI Ultra models have Sport suspension as standard, at no additional cost. Deselection of Sport suspension is available for S line customers""
But you can the add £600 for the "Adaptive Sport suspension with damping control" which "Electronically regulated suspension system which offers the ultimate Sport ride. Suspension is lowered by 20mm (as per Sport suspension) and adjusts to different driving situations. Provides a sportier response with improved comfort. Dynamic or Comfort-oriented characteristics for shock absorber settings can be adjusted via Audi Drive Select."
You still get the Audi Drive Select on all models but only impacts the steering wheel and accelerator if you dont have the active sports suspension. Without driving each of them its going to be pot luck really.
I spend most of my time driving in a straight line down the M4 and M32 so decided Ill get the Sound and Comfort pack instead and get a decent stereo
