Drinkers - are they all ****s?
Discussion
Bloody drinkers, leaving their tinnies in bushes, drinking over the childrens playgrounds, drunks in the city center at 10am, drunks p1ssing everywhere in public and up against monuments that should be respected. Bloody drinkers out on a weekend down the pub all day and the people out on the town getting smashed falling all over the place and getting into fights.
Bloody drinkers putting themselves into an early grave and costing our NHS millions.
Bloody Smokers, sorry meant drinkers.

I'm not a drinker. There, I said it. Phew.
I stopped years ago after that moment of clarity where I realised; "I don't actually like the taste of this. It's expensive and gives me a headache, too."
It's a bit weird because my brother is an alcoholic (abuse rather than dependent) and I really struggle to understand how someone can be an alcoholic.

Oh, the drinkers are next. The same meddling do-gooders that pushed all the third party harm that led to the smoking ban haven't gone away sated. They have just moved on to the next target. Harm to the unborn foetus was seen as a soft target, so they started there, but the anti-social aspects and the NHS "costs" will be used as levers.

Heh! I don't drink because I suspect I may be an alcoholic.I stopped years ago after that moment of clarity where I realised; "I don't actually like the taste of this. It's expensive and gives me a headache, too."

Surely it was more of a public health thing?Make smoking as anti social as possible to eradicate it? I wonder if booze is a profitable venture for the budget, I'm pretty sure it is.

Bloody drinkers,
Because temperance and prohibition worked out soooo well. The difference between a smoker and a drinker is that I can smell a smoker across a large room within seconds of them sparking up, to smell a drinker he has to be breathing in my face.
A drinker isn't usually belligerent, only belligerent people end up being belligerent drinkers.
I have a theory that alcohol does not change the way you act as a person, it only lowers your inhibitions to the point where it lets the real you out of the bottle. If the real you is the same sober, there'll be no difference, if you're secretly hiding a twuntish person behind a veneer of normalcy, then the twunt will come out to play. I find the excuse "it wasn't me, I was drunk" to be complete b
ks, no-one forced that drink into your hand and as the old saying goes, "in vino veritas" (in wine there is the truth). I find people who are twunts drunk are twunts sober and are only hiding it out of the fear of being judged.OTOH, nice people end up being nice drunks.
Basically if you harbour secret bigoted opinions, I'd suggest not drinking as you'll end up with no friends in short order.

Is it the only addictive, poison that we regularly self administer, often to excess, and which leads to serious health, and social problems ?
Depends on how you define poison. Chocolate and Caffeine are both psychoactive and are defined as poisons by some (not just Mormons either). However what good will come of banning it? The Americans tried prohibition before and it lead to the rise of organised crime.
As I said in the gambling problem thread, drinking is something that can be enjoyed, and is enjoyed by most partakers safely and responsibly. There's no point in banning it because of a small number of problem drinkers. Banning it will just drive it underground, so target the problem individuals, not the activity.
