Advice on my set up

Hi Folks
Looking for some advice on my set up & future set up. I currently have an arcam 8 integrated amp & 8 cd player coupled to Kef Q35 speakers. I've had the set up since new for about 20 years but how I'm using the system has changed over the years and also we've moved house.
Originally I was mainly using it for listening to CD's and we had a living room 5x3.5m. Current temporary house has 4.5x4.5m room and we're going to be moving shortly and the living room will be bigger again at 5.5 x 4.5m.
Over the years I've changed how I listen to stuff - first plugging an ipad directly into the aux on the amp and listening to stuff through ITunes and more recently using an Apple TV to listen to ITunes with it running through the TV to the amp. I feel the sound is now suffering, I'm not an expert but it now sounds too light & doesn't have the same presence it used to have. It doesn't fill the room in the same way and whilst it still sounds bright & clear it certainly seem lacking in the lower end.
With the move it seems like the perfect time to revisit the system. I'm likely to keep listening to stuff through iTunes as I like the choice, I'm never going to go back to purely listening to CD's like I did originally and it's likely that the TV is going to go through any system too. I've always liked ARCAM & KEF as brands but I'm not stuck to them.
So if you're still with me what could I be doing to improve the current sound from my set up and what should I be looking for in a future set up (not necessarily talking about the brands more what type of components should I be looking at?)
