Purchased a second hand Pioneer home cinema Amp at the back end of last year, less than a Hundred quid, sounds great, I am well pleased.
The only thing I have not managed to sort, and I don't know if it's possible, is Audio output from the TV.
Currently, all my hdmi devices go into the amp, and it outputs to the tv.
However, if I watch anything through the smart tv, such as Youtube content, or via the Chromecast, I have to bypass the Amp and use the TV speakers.
Not the end of the world, but I am starting to play a lot more music at home, and also (intending to ) start automating stuff with Google Home over the coming months.

Have you tried using the optical (digital) audio connection between your TV and the amp?

Some TVs support ARC (Audio Return Channel) on some HDMI connections-

I know you have a Pioneer, but the above has some general info.

No, this is all new ground to me. I'll take a look at the weekend.
Thanks

I do this 'twixt a Samsung smart TV and a Denon M38 mini system. Needed an opti-audio converter to an aux input. I believe modern equivs. have an opti input built in.

If you just need stereo sound from the TV, most of them have a line out / headphone connection that you can just route to an unused input on the amp.

If there's support for it, ARC is how I'd connect the two.

Similar situation, I have an amp in which all my device are connected via HDMI and output to the TV by a single HDMI, all video switched on the amp. I recently bought a smart tv, and moved the plasma upstairs. Though I could connected my Sky and dvd out, the smart functions on the TV wont as the source is the TV, I dont have a HDMI ARC on my amp so I connected an optical lead from the TV into the amp, changed the settings on the TV to output to optical.

The only very minor issue is, that Satellite/DVD sound are switched on the amp, but the Smart tv sound and its apps also have to be switched to whatever HDMI I have removed, because if you use the optical you have to remove the HDMI input (in my case the Amazon fire box)but thats my set up, you may not need to do it that way or have inputs not used.
