2002 Jaguar XK8
Discussion
Hello!
Just bought myself a 2002 XK8. I've wanted one since I first saw them back when I was about 20, the shape of them is timeless (in my opinion!) so this is a 40th present to myself!
Spent a lot of time talking to a guy selling his XK8 on the XKEC which looked stunning, but he couldn't get it MOT'd (long story).
So in the end I Broke all the rules in buying unseen from an auction this morning but might just get away with it! There's a huge pile of papers covering lots of service history and most of the MOTs.
Twice the mileage of the XKEC car, but half the price
Things that i've noticed need doing;
- Misty offside headlight
- Rusty nearside arch... how bad could this be?
- Drove it 40 miles back from Poole with a knocking from the rear nearside
- No sign of the tensioners having been done, or the water pump.
- Service is due
Luckily my brother owns a garage!

I'll upload another couple when i get them in the daylight

Nice! I had a 2001 one for 2 years and put 22,000 miles on it, and loved it! I will dig out the reader's cars thread as i did some of the basic stuff like ABS sensors and swapping out the plastic water pump and thermostat housing for metal ones.
your Rear knockin' is most likely the lower Shock absorber bush, if you take a look on the interweb there are numerous peeps who have sorted that, jagrepair.com is an excellent resource too.
Edit: here's my ownership thread: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Thanks for the link Albert - will have a read.
I've taken it to my brothers and got it up on the ramp, doesn't look to bad. I've already ordered bushes (from eBay / Berkshire Jags) so hopefully that'll sort it. He's 60 odd miles away and it didn't miss a beat.
We did an oil service whilst it was up there, i've ordered a new air filter as well.
Most importantly, i've done the geek thing and date-ordered all of the service documents and MOT history and put them in a binder in clear plastic folders
