a quick and dumb question. last time I put the diff back the last front diff/bracket bolt was a pig to locate. is there a recommended (easy) order to the bolts. I have been fitting top rear then the long bolts to the mounts/chassis then the 2 front top diff/mount bolts then the 2 front bottom diff/mount ones finally prop and drive shafts which are easy.

I can’t really remember even though it was last year when we did Aluns car but I do remember from doing this a couple of times before that I left the brackets to the diff slightly loose to aid lining up the brackets to the chassis.

Everywhere around the diff is a bit of a pain in the arse to get to so you have to suck it and see.

Obviously, easier on a ramp but if you are struggling on axle stands then it is nothing more than a struggle!

I had this problem.
Make sure the front (snout) end of the diff where the brackets locate is thoughly cleaned up and clear of rust/corrosion. You would might need to use a file to dress it and make sure this spigoted area where the brackets bolt against at the front end of the diff is corrosion free.
I was also replacing my diff with Poly Bushes, which do not have the same "give" in them compared with the metalastic ones, which makes the job that bit more of a pain. smile

Everything assembled loose as Peter and others say. If on axle stands I’d made a wooden platform the diff sits on and use a jack to hold it up in position, Peters gearbox jack made the job a lot easier to locate bolts Jes.
Oh hi I’m Alun hehe
