Dear Esther Live
Discussion
I went to see Dear Esther Live last night in Liverpool (Philharmonic Hall) and found it remarkably good.
As you can see, they had 3 violinists, 1 double bass, a pianist, a singer, person playing the game, the narrator and someone else that I don't really know what he was ding (maybe some of the sound effects ?). So 7 on stage in all.
The bloke that did the narration was amazing - with diction like that he's got a job for life.
It was one hour and 10 minutes long, which seems right as last week I replied it and it took me 90 minutes.
At the end I almost had a tear in my eye. I'd recommend going to see it if it's on near you.

Sadly, it doesn't appear to be on in London.

I just finished the Landmark Edition game last night having downloaded it in December in an Xbox Live sale for £1.60.
I wasn't blown away by the score but it did a good enough job for the most part. The piano piece at the start of 'Beacon' was really good though.
I loved the narration, it was really good, and the expanding metaphors for the white lines of a carriageway, the juxtaposition of a narrative of rebirth against that of isolation and purgatory and the journey into the island and out again were all very cool. I did find the story a little too postmodern in the sense that it becomes more about how the story is being told rather than the actual story itself.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the island though, what an incredible rendering. The tangible quality of the surface area in the late afternoon sun and the water effects in the caves were just astounding.

I wish I'd seen this thread a few weeks ago, I would've loved to have seen this.
This was my original thread about it:https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I can't believe that was 6 months ago.
