A'well here goes!,other than the gearbox bolted on to the back of the engine the only support i can see is where it is bolted to the C-Beam that runs from the back of the box to the axle with the prop running thru the centre of the C-Beam.

Ive removed the exhaust and shifter and have used a jack and a couple of slabs of wood to support the rear of the engine.

Ive removed the headers and found this little mess, looks like it had fouled on the headers and been tied back.

Found a handy site, for "cool tube" for wires, heat bandage and heat resistant "Snap Straps",to sort the wiring problem out.

Cliff, are the wires of the knock sensor in good condition or are they damaged? if they are cut or burnt or shorted together that could explain your detonation and head gasket failure

They look ok Jordi,i think its only recently they have become like this,i remember the knock sensor being checked at one point after on of the rebuilds and the specialist said it was OK

Before i make good i will check it out for sure.

knock sensor would not cause that, unless the actual fuel/ignition map was miles off.

The knock sensor only retards ignition upon hearing det/pinking. In the real world, if the ignition map is good, then it should never have to do this, unless say poor fuel or something was used.

I doubt thats the case.
