I’m about to buy this car and originally thought it was a 1982 e21 but after looking on the net I found out they didn’t make 4 doors in the e21 model but did in the e30 but I can’t seem to find a e30 that looks the same anyone got any ideas ?

It's an E30 316. Well, the badge on the bootlid says so. Looks like US market bumpers, maybe. Where is it registered?

I live in Thailand so it will be a import but not sure where from, do you think it has any value to it like the E21s ?

Clean straight E30’s are increasing in value in the UK but I don’t know if that true over there, a 316 is not a loved model either.

Yeah I’m more interested in the Uk price tbf because I’m from the Uk and want to know if I am getting a bargain or not, the owner seems to think it has a 1.8 in it but he has only had the car for a few weeks so dosnt know much about the car

But you're in Thailand? So the Thai value's the relevant one, surely? If you're thinking of shipping it back here, it's not worth it.

I still earn sterling and and not baht and have a rule that I don’t pay more for anything out here then I would at home so if the car is worth anything over 1k I will be happy, also the car prices in Thailand are cars normally cost about 50% more then the do at home in the Uk

What will happen when you sell? Will you refer the buyer in Thailand to the UK value? What about the value in Russia, or Jamaica?

This is a new one to me.

Just because it might be worth the same or more in the UK does not mean that you are getting a bargain in Thailand because "cars normally cost 50% more". In my experience some cars are worth more in certain countries than others, whereas still comparing the same two countries, other cars are worth less - it's as always a question of demand. In places where wages are low and fuel is expensive, economy or lack thereof can kill value. Similarly, road tax - in certain countries high road tax makes certain models worth peanuts whereas in other countries, unaffected by these taxes, the value may be higher. A diesel econobox may have a hundred buyers lined up prepared to pay silly money for, while a "prestige" vehicle may be impossible to shift at almost any price.

Who said I was going to sell it ? I never once said anything about selling it, in my eyes if I paid 1k for a car that would cost me 5k back home I have had a touch because I get to drive the same car for 4K cheaper that’s just the way I look at things if you don’t understand that then that’s your problem

You will make millions I tell you. I know someone in Thailand who is selling an incredibly cheap E21, E30 and E30 M3. They would make you very rich indeed at those prices.

He's taking the piss, as had been said it's a tatty looking e30 with US spec bumpers, if you want it then buy it, the price of them in the UK is irrelevant for a car you're going to own and drive over there and have no intention of bringing back to sell in the UK.

But if it's part of your buying habit and you need to know the price of them over here, then google autotrader.co.uk and have a look.

I've just got back from a trip to west coast US. I was (pleasantly) surprised at the number of E30 3 series I saw, compared to the UK there seemed to be loads around. My impressions were that they really are not worth half as much as the premium they command in the UK though. The majority looked very tired and worn and not particularly looked after - although I appreciate the sun doesn't help here. Even the tasty models (325i, sports etc) looked to be treated like old "beaters". Shame really
