I'm about to buy a Golf R estate with my only 'option' being black paint.

However I wanted to ask you guys is the DCC an essential option? I will be running the standard 18" wheels but I previously had an Audi S4 Avant which I really liked for the bark of the exhaust. Am I correct in saying that if I don't specify the DCC I will lose any audible feedback which is present in RACE mode? In other words - if i get the Dynamic Chassis Control will it make the car sound better??

Any audible difference is likely due to the 'soundaktor' - aka a speaker that plays fake engine noise into the car and will be louder in whatever the sportier mode is...

So is it a waste of money? It won't change the exhaust valves?

I've got the Sound turned off in my custom settings, it gets tiresome after a while.

Not 100% sure if DCC gives you different sounds, but I've never heard it does.

The sound changes when the engine is in sport mode. Race mode puts it into Sport Mode or you can change it in Individual Mode.

DCC just changes the damper settings, so again in Race Mode the dampers will be in Sport Mode (hardest).

With Individual Mode for example you could have the dampers in Comfort and engine in Sport to hear the more sporty sounds.

DCC has no impact on the sounds.

The estate doesn’t have a valved exhaust system. As others have said, all it affects is the dampers. The ride on the MK7.5 estate is actually really good, and with the standard wheels there is no need for DCC IMO.

Ah ok thanks! So basically i'm not getting any more aural excitement on the estate by opting for DCC!

No, my preference is an individual mode with the soundaktor turned off. Then retract the parcel shelf and fold back the boot floor!
