Just wondering if anyone has been down the road of getting a ban for dangerous driving and what it is like getting re-insured on a TVR Cerbera 4.5 or like.

Expect to pay high premiums for a few years... think of it as Penance

I was put inside for Dangerous Driving (133mph on a dual carri). Insurance on a Laguna 2.0 3rd party only was £2600. Car wasn't worth that!
Anyway, that was back in 1998, now it's OK. You'll pay big money for the first 5 years after the ban. Don't know if they will even give you insurance on a TVR after a dangerous driving con.
Hope this is a "what if" question!

I would think that alone does more to kill people's speed when they
read it. Always makes me sit up and take note!

Still make my blood boil though when I think what others can do and just get a smacked wrist.

That certainly does make you sit up and take note. I've definitely gone faster than that on a dual carriageway in the past and I expect so have many others.

I invisaged him being asking to chuck the reigns and climb down from the roof having been caught playing 100 mile an hour cowboy wagons, and drive normally from the inside.

Hi

The following sites specialize in convicted drivers and the last guy with a ban I mentioned them to was pleasantly surprized with their quotes for something Japanese and fast :-

motorquotedirect
quotelinedirect
directchoice

I expect you have tried privilege and first alternative already.Hope this helps.

PS you may well get quoted with smaller companies like Sabre or Zenith.Bothhave been around for years and are solid financially.

I was banned for 18months Drink Drive.....
the only way I could get sensible premiums was to go for the older Tivs on classic insurance and limited mileage

My S2 at the mo is costing circa £450 a year Mannings

and my Griff 4.3 is costing circa £530 a year Classicline

..... basically classic car insurance limits you to cars 10 years old..... which is the early Griff 500s (I went for the 4.3 cos it sounds )

I was getting quotes on newer cars circa £2500 limited mileage 4000 - 6000 miles

Hi Matt
I'm fine but car's not Still ok to drive but needs 3k spending to get it all sorted. Manifolds, back boxes, brakes, bushes, starter motor (done yesterday at Leven ), throttle cable, 12k service and tappets
That's why I haven't been around for a while, working hard to soften the blow
I see you're still having problems with the software! I gave up but will have another go soonish (with some help )
Take care and please keep making us all on here!

Just wanted to mention that Ive not been banned yet but Ive got a court hearing next week for it. Apparently witnesses saying my mate and I weaving and tailgating. Got involved in a bad accident about 2 miles later where a woman pulled out of a slip road of the dual carraigeway right in front of me and I tried to brake but lost control and ended up writing my cerby off. Ended up with a fratchured pelvis etc.. Pleading not guilty as this never happened. My friend was with me in his tiv aswell. My only witness but hopefully a valuable one. The fight will go on and on know doubt.
