Need pics of the damage on the cat D to make a decision.

History
Make/model

All very relevant considerations for both

110k is "moon miles" now?

The simple answer is "whichever one's the shed"

I did both at the same time (110k and cat D)

It was very very cheap.
Honestly depends why it was a cat D. On a older car it doesn’t take much to write a car off.

All depends on the age of the car, model, spec etc.
Cat D could be replacing a wing mirror cover?
110k isn't a lot of miles unless we're talking ultra collectable or 6 months old?!

More details needed but if they’re the same price, the higher miler straight car every time.

The difference between repaired and CatD might only be that a hire car wasn't needed... Or they made the assessor a nice cuppa with chocolate biscuits.

Well aware but given the OP hasn’t given any information, assuming they’re the same price and neither look like they have been painted by Stevie Wonder in the past, I would opt for the straight one.

E92 isn't yet cheap enough to be likely to have been written off for minor panel damage. Without evidence of what the damage was and how it was repaired I wouldn't be interested in a cat D, unless it's very, very, very cheap and something you intend to keep for a long time. But since you're not saying how much money we're talking it's hard to say.

Any M-car has the potential to destroy your wallet. Take your time, look at plenty, buy the best one you can.

isn't above 250k generally looked at as "moon miles"
Less that that, and it's just a general "high miler"

Loads of cars and vans with over 250k, it's not even really high now days.

I would say 240k miles is moon miles cause that is give or take the distance to the moon...

I bought a 4 year old 'mint' Cat D repaired Astra with only 21k on the clock, over one the same age with around 90k on the clock for the same price. I was going to be doing around 40k a year, so the lower mileage was a lot more appearling.

Put me off buying any form of accident damaged/repaired car.

At first it did seem like a bargain, but then the niggles started to surface after a few months. It'd always pull to the left slightly, no amount of wheel alignment would solve it, and eventually realised that the entire front end was slightly skew-whiff.

Looking at other adverts for Cat D vehicles, a lot seem to have minor damage which doesn't look too bad, but others look pretty horrific. I think the Astra I had was the latter, and repaired on a back street, probably by a blind chef.

Unless I bought it damaged and repaired it myself, or at least saw pictures of the damage before buying I wouldn't go near another.

Having said that, I should have done more research myself. If I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have gone near it. But I didn't, so i did! Hey ho!

Cat D Fezza no problems

Cat D E92 M3 problems IMO

Walk away and go for the 110k miles one as long as you get a proper inspection and all history etc checks out.
