Today I picked my CGTS for a usual sunday drive and after 10 min's drive the infotainment did a reboot automatically (Shutdown, Porsche logo next, then Cayman GTS logo).

After that, the Sat Nav never worked again, was showing "Loading map" message. Tried a couple of restart, also switching off / on the engine, but no success.

Tuner and Car screen all seem to work properly, just sat nav stuck on "Loading map" message and black/no info screen.

If it helps to give me some suggestions on the issue....after the cold start I stopped to a petrol station, filled it in and did a reset of the trip computer. After 5 min it did the reboot....

Also...a month ago I had a warning message "Low battery" after 2 weeks of inactivity and a start on a very cold day.

Car is 3 yrs old bought new and - bad luck to me - I did not go for a warranty renewal this year...

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Not on my CGTS, but on the Kia hack, the sat nag/entertainment system just stopped as I was driving along a week or two ago. The garage took about 5 minutes to reset something and it’s been fine since.

If you’re close to OPC I’d just ask them to take a look. Hopefully just as easy a solution for you.

Thanks, I was hoping for a quick reset procedure I could do w/o going to a OPC.

Worst case I'll bring it to them, hopefully they won't charge me.

Hi Ross,

I exact same issue on my 981 Spyder. Luckily it was just before its first service was due. The OPC seemed to know immediately it was a corrupt file. Nothing a user reset would sort. Apparently a re-flash by the OPC normally does the trick, but for some reason I needed a new head unit. All covered under warranty - no quibble - thankfully.

Hopefully yours is sorted easily.

Cheers
Lee

Oh my good gosh, a new head unit O_O

I do hope I do not need a new head unit, I would call Porsche GB for a nice chat.

Now, as I did the MOT at my local OPC back in December '17, I am not sure if I am missing a trick and they messed up intentionally or not....as my warranty was already ko.

If you bought it new and it is one month out of warranty I'd hope your OPC would take care of it under goodwill. I wonder if your 6 years statutory rights holds water with cars? Someone may know?

OPC tried for 1.5hrs to run an emergency software update but the cd used to run the update got expelled every time at 95% progress with no successful update.

Got told very likely PCM unit has to be replaced.

OPC was very kind and I didn't pay for any labour. They'll contact Porsche GB / Warranty Manager for next steps, my 3rd year warranty expired a month ago.

After a search using google I've found many similar cases where the PCM unit had to be replaced.

Ouch.... hopefully goodwill will prevail and you don’t end up facing a huge bill for a new PCM.

Our BGTS is 3 years old 5th March, already booked in for the extended warranty. Almost anything that breaks will cost more than the annual warranty, as horrendous as it is with the daft 111 point check. Had a dynamic engine mount fail last year - a not unusual fault I believe -- and I was told that would have cost over £1,000 plus labour plus VAT!

Yes, you're right, how much have you paid for extended warranty?

How on earth failure of an engine mount is unusual?! smile

111 Point Check £216. One year warranty £660.
