Hi all

I have a e36 328i track car and started getting some engine stuttering and the odd cut out at traffic lights last week,

I want to try and tackle the problem myself but would like to read the codes first,

can any one recommend the best cost effective reader that will work on the E36 and also an E46 if possible as I have one of them as well.

any help appreciated

thanks

vacuum leak somewhere probably. You will need one that plugs in under bonnet obd connector for your e36 or just adaptor lead. The fault codes might not help much unless it's more electrical then vacuum related. Good luck , could be anything as minor as cam cover gasket leaking.

I have personally used both of these before with reasonable results.

The second one is nicer to use but both did the same.

Foxwell NT510 is a bit more expensive but is pretty good for diagnostics and some coding

How old is the car? If pin 15 is populated on the diag port it may require something different:
