They're ridiculous money on a personal lease, for what is only a quick, not fast, car.

Cheapest on a 2year PCH right now is around ~£700 a month all-in. Somewhere around £400-500 is really where they should be.

12,000 miles
3 year
£2K in

Local dealer £679 pm
Select Car Leasing £656 pm

Taking fees into account an extra £594 to go PCP.

I will go with dealer on the basis I "might" get my deposit back.

A bit more than I wanted to spend but the car is mind blowing so I shall be ordering one very shortly biggrin

Paying ~£25,000 to rent a car -- that is slower than a remapped Golf R -- for 36 months is insane.

As a rule of thumb, if it costs more than 25% of the RRP to rent something for 2 years, then it is probably overpriced... that deal above is 35-40% of the RRP when adjusted over 2 years...

Why do you think this?

Do you mean in case you cancel?

But if you remapped the RS3 it would be faster again so why compare apples and oranges?

I think what he’s saying is you can get similar performance from a Golf with considerably less outlay. So more like comparing peaches with nectarines.

I don’t understand all this renting lark. No wonder young people cannot afford to get on the property ladder.

Notwithstanding who said it, this is a fairly good rule of thumb I believe.

Sometimes we have to pay more than we want if we want it badly enough. Sadly for me I have been blown away by this car and these are the best deals on the table. Had I wanted a Golf R this thread would not exist.

I thought the rule of thumb was cars should retain. 50% of their value over 3 years, so assuming you are paying for the depreciation only, that works out at about 17%.
