Has anybody tried making cheese at home?

I've been doing this for a couple of years on and off, got quick cream cheese down pat, but I'm still struggling to get any consistency with hard cheeses.

I started making things like ricotta and mozzarella but nothing more. Be quite interested in a thread on the subject though.
