Ok I know it's a vague question but what the he'll, it might throw up some left field options.

So my Dax Cobra is moving onto pastures new - stunning car but my wife was never happy being a passenger.

So I'm going to have money burning a hole in my pocket so what to buy.

I used to have an Elise and loved it so have been looking at those although good quality without going overboard is becoming difficult. Same for exige.

I have decided against another kit as I've sadly come to the conclusion I'm not mechanically minded enough and get stressed when it needs fettling.

I'm semi retired so don't need a daily as such (I have a pick up for that) so looking for something fun, not bland, and has to fit in a single garage!

So other than lotus, what else should I consider for about 30k?

Ginetta G40r is what I've just bought to fill a similar hole. Might be too hardcore though.

My other options were Porsche Cayman S or Lotus exige.

My wife was keen on the Porsche or a TT RS but everything just felt too tame compared to my Caterham I was replacing.

What about a mustang? might be tight in the garage though.

Edited to add...TVR Tamora/T350 were other considerations.

Yes that's my concern about mainstream cars - not exciting.

Is love a mustang but definitely wouldn't fit in my garage. Think the TVR has the same issue too.

Not thought about ginetta, always seen them as pure racers. Thx I'll have a look.

If you can up your budget slightly an Alfa 4C might fill the brief.

There are a few on Autotrader around the £30-35,000 range.

The ginetta is pretty much a race car for the road so you have to respect that it will rattle and squeak more than the average road car.

It is however pretty raw and I am liking mine coming from a Caterham. You may suffer the same problem as me in finding it down on power compared to what you are used to. It does go well when worked though.

Alfa 4C is a good shout but worth getting the tape measure out first if garage fitment is a consideration...it’s not very long but is surprisingly wide!
