thinking of getting an 05 Db9 to current performance levels... i know about the B&R 520 bhp upgrade but is the gearbox upgradeable to touchtronic 2?
thanks
The first Aston Touchtronic style option was launched on the DB7, the DB9’s 6-speed ZF transaxle installation, with drive by wire control, was called Touchtronic II, so this was available from launch. The system has been improved and evolved, specifically with a new hydraulic control unit (plus software, etc) for the 09MY, upgrading would be expensive if it is possible, best talk to one of the specialists about software or hardware upgrades... but considering a younger "original" car is another option.thanks
The 8-speed Touchtronic III ZF transmission was launched for the 15MY on the Vanquish/Rapide S and wouldn’t be a compatible/economical retro fit option for an 05 DB9.
Hope this helps

Thanks. So The upgraded MY09 box is the box with the quckier shifts that will equal shift times of a manual, blip on down shifts, And can be retrofitted
There is no official retrofit option, but as mentioned it may be worth talking to an Aston specialist about your options, personally I prefer to keep Astons original/official, but plenty enjoy modifying.
ok so i contacted some specialistas and gleaned the following... if anyone would like to chime in and offer anything or correct me that would be welcome
-an 09MY box would fit in and earlier db9 and you would get the benefit of the higher drive ratio but you wouldnt have access to the throttle blips or quicker shifts as the ECU system from erlier cars doesnt support the new hardware in the box
-05 boxes can be remapped to give slightly quicker shifts but not as quick as the newer cars

To be honest, the 6hp26 is rated for 443lb ft of torque and that isn't giving a lot of room to work with. I'm not sure what the modification that later DB9 GT's transmission had in order to give out the 457lb ft torque. If you are really interested in swapping the transmission I'd say ask for the possibility to get a 6hp32 into the car as that can carry a lot more torque than the standard 6hp26. But I don't know if it is possible at all so such would be something you can go find out.
