I surf PH on my phone pretty much exclusively and have noticed that I get a new window in chrome open and browser hijack/popups on this forum only (nothing on anything else) which is mostly very explicit porn and exceptionally inappropriate as I have kids, and certainly if I'm at work or in my lunch break I simply can't use it. If you try and press back it goes to a typical 'install here to clear your browser' crap which I just then close that browser window.
I use an android phone with Android 8.1.0.
Anyone else have this? Seems exclusively to PH.

PH was unusable on my android phone yesterday, I also got constant popups trying to install malware. Is it any wonder people have ad blockers installed when PH failed to do anything about this problem for months.I use an android phone with Android 8.1.0.

I'll be putting a hosts blacklist on my phone today.

I have AV running which doesn't detect anything. I'm exceptionally careful about what I install (I have a Google Pixel with unexpandable 32gb memory so I have to be!)
It's basically opens up a window for you to 'omg click here to clean your phone' that probably links to a malware installation file...which chrome browser is normally very good at blocking but I only get it on this site. I want to work out if it's a site issue (and Safari/iOS may not be susceptible to that specific pop up) or if it's my phone/software. Chrome by default has a pop up blocker and it's turned on so this one seems to be getting round it somehow and it appears to be linked to this URL only.
Ive never experienced it on any other site, which is very strange.
Just means I can't use PH on my phone.

I switched to Opera (which has built-in ad blocking) for browsing about a year ago when PH was hosting dodgy ads with similar behaviour.
Never had a problem since.
There were numerous angry posts by me in website feedback at the time. Angry because PH tried to deny all responsibility for adverts they served up.
ETA Android phone, and I paid a pitttance for Opera. Tried Opera mini, but it's a bit flakey.

They are 'drive by downloads', an attempt to con you into installing the malware, with advert that looks like a real 'warning'.It's basically opens up a window for you to 'omg click here to clean your phone' that probably links to a malware installation file...which chrome browser is normally very good at blocking but I only get it on this site. Understood what they are. What I don't understand is whether it's specific to this website, and something the host needs to resolve, or client side on my phone and given I run pretty vanilla Android with no rubbish, I'm a bit surprised it's happening). It's not often but seems to be each new session at some point during navigating through forum sections.
Sounds like it could be something others browsers are blocking but mine isn't. But if it's happening when the session with the PH webserver is opening links, then it seems to me it's the PH server that is serving these pages to the browser and there is something at the server end? I don't have any other sessions on other webpages open at the same time....
Either way I can't safely view pistonheads which should might need to be a concern for its owners so thought I'd flag it and see if anyone else gets it.
Chrome browser version 64.0.3282.123 Would be interested to see if anyone else is running this and getting issues/ no issues. But even if it's is a browser vulnerability, those bogus webpages are being served by the pH server? Or is it likely the redirect could be a corrupt browser?

The nasty pop-ups are almost certainly coming from an advert served up by PH.
The ad probably contains JavaScript code to open the popup and "hijack" your browser.
The ad comes from a 3rd party, but the link to the ad is provided by the PH website.
Unfortunately, the actual advert served up differs from user to user, so it's hard to determine which ad is the rogue.
Seriously, download Opera (free) and see if that solves the problem.

UBlock Origin and UBlock Origin extra sorts all that out on Chrome.
If you also want to stop the unwanted videos running on websites that are now in HTML5, then install Turn Off the Lights and use the autostop feature.
I understand that sites need ad revenue but as long as publishers don't police the content that is downloaded via their sites then I'll take the necessary steps to protect my hardware and my privacy.

I agree. I give websites a run without as blocking, until they screw up.I understand that sites need ad revenue but as long as publishers don't police the content that is downloaded via their sites then I'll take the necessary steps to protect my hardware and my privacy.
PH had a run of ads, some of which took up most of the screen, and some auto-played audio.
Their response to complaints was basically to blame the ad brokers that they chose
When they started serving browser hijacks, I started blocking. And I doubt I'll give them another chance.

t if Pistonheads won't accept some responsibility if they're serving up the pages that do this.
never seen that one, I get annoyed by the "why are you visiting ph?" one in the corner.
