Hi - I bought this car knowing it had central locking issues and need to get it fixed. The remote doesn't work which I can handle, but now the entire (using key) central locking is failing intermittently although it will always open the drivers side.

Does anyone know what the issues might be so I can either fix it myself or save £s on investigative works?

The radio/stereo also doesn't work - the light is on the display but is completely useless. Any ideas on trouble shooting for that issue or am I looking at a replacement?

I would be so appreciative of any pointers you can give me - thanks in advance!!!!!

Kirsty

Hi

I think you need the GM 5 module repaired ( common problem ).

Sounds like Gm5 module for the locking and BM54 module for the stereo issue, both common e46 problems.

Fixes are quite cheap for both and removal / refitting of both is straightforward too. Contacting the guys on the links below would be my next move:

As a bonus the BM54 repair is actually an upgrade and the sound will be better than standard when repaired.

Hi - thought I'd provide an update.

I took the advice that it was the Module at fault. I contacted the EBayer who fixes the faulty modules and who offers excellent support in how to remove the module so it can be posted to him for repair. It was the module that was faulty and Merv also sorted out my key too!

This saved me around £300!

Thank you!

Hi,
Have a BMW e91 2007 330d. Yesterday used back whiper it then failed, as did central locking on key fob. Locking on dashboard a key works fine ? Checked 56/57 fuses ok, took rear spoiler off to check wires and see if any water ingress on diversity module, all looked as new!, Checked wires going into tailgate top of hatch door appears ok. Any help would be appreciated cheers
