Evening folks

Does anyone have a spare V8S rear diff mounting? Either for me to use or for me to use as a pattern to have one made up.

Unfortunately I've just broken the existing S3 one (well sheared the bolts actually) and my car probably warrants the upgrade smile

Thanks

Doing this from memory so could be talking nonsense but aren't the fixings (part of the chassis) different for the V8s set up?

Which bolts have you broken? on a V6 no bolts or threads are actually part of the mounting?

How about one of those nice billet/silicone jobs?

I have the group A mount and those 2 bolts you see there are sheared frown

Just replaced for now but the V8S mount has an extra 4 mounts on top of those which I thought may help things.

Oh and yes I will need to add the chassis mounts to match, bit of welding and the lick of paint lols..

Thanks

Hi Damian...
If you're going to get the welder out, you might as well fabricate the plates as well. Using a couple of suitable void bushes (Cortina, the solid version?) & sleeves.
Or x4 top hat poly bushes, again using suitable sleeves.

Is a "Group A" mount a posh one like pictured? I'll give you a couple of quid for it if it becomes redundant wink

Do all diffs have the extra threaded mounting holes in the back cover?

Yeah, they just pick up the backplate retaining holes.

No probs. I'll have one laying around while I refurb the chassis in the next few months, depends how desperate you are for dims.

You just remove four of the black dome-headed backplate bolts, and put some longer ones through the new mount (it's based on the Sierra Cossie one really). There are four little spacer tubes too.

Fancy making one for me? No hurry assuming the other one holds together? I could then Pop down for the fitting ?

Thanks

I think it'd take a surprisingly long time to make from scratch (for a business) but happy to help as I can. You could hunt down the original Ford cast item, but I'm guessing there's a reason TVR didn't use those on the V8S.

Fair enough.. I think the front mounts are soft so will replace with poly to take some of the strain off the rear mount and see how it goes.. I think I've put better quality bolts in the back too smile

Oh and I think I've cured the miss fire that caused it in the first place.. or at least was the proverbial straw that broke em. I guess it's possible one has been broken a while.?

V8 TT Alan I hope you have something very strong as you must be 200bhp more than me.?

Cheers

The fronts are actually quite hard, unless you've got some of the early Tasmin versions fitted? They were void bushes, rather than the solid type. I'd go poly too, but then the energy will only transfer onto the rear mount more, so you're probably barking up the right tree in upgrading it.

That lovely pic of the heavier duty diff mount (my old one lick) I was told took the same bushes as an early griff diff mount - so it could we worth doing some digging you may get the part complete.
