Repair paint/sealant on sill.

Looking under my berlingo the other day the lip/downstand on the bottom of the sill had been flattened- looked like it's been driven over a high kerb or something! Probably need to speak to the wife about that!
Anyway, without any panelbeating skills I've managed to straighten it roughly back into place but the paint and sealant has cracked. How best to repair it? I thought hammerite ( because I have some) then PU sealant then some more hammerite on top? You can't really see it and I don't care what it looks like I just don't want it it rusting away.
