Porsche Cayenne reliability issues
Discussion
Am curious to know of any experiences with reliability issues or rectifying problems. Perhaps I have just been unlucky.
New Cayenne Platinum Diesel delivered in Dec 2016.
Very early on the stop/start intermittently shut off when stationery. Car needs to be put in park and started manually (not a major problem except when on the likes of the M25!). Dealer inspected and put it down to the battery being sub-optimal charge, however, fault has reappeared and the battery is not the issue.
More frustrating, when car was less than a year old, warning light came on and engine went into safety mode. Dealer said they couldn’t take the car until January unless it was a recovery scenario. Porsche Assist, ultimately the AA, were quick to attend and diagnose the fault. When the car reached the Dealer they refused to accept the fault code (email copy provided to me by ‘Porsche Assist’) as it was not generated by them and as fault was intermittent there was nothing they could do.
I did ask Porsche, at their cost, ask the Dealer to rectify the issue but they refused.
In the weeks to took Porsche to react to the complaint and reach a conclusion the fault returned and the car is again back with the Dealer.
Had been planning on buying a Cayman this year but given my current, and first, experience as a Porsche owner I feel somewhat disillusioned by the product and the service.
Any similar experience or tips on how to deal with it appreciated.
