Hi All,

I have recently bought a 640d convertible - has anyone found any child seats that are suitable for 2/3 year olds for a 6 series cabrio?

The maxi cosi 2 way pearl went in the rear of my old 640d Coupe on the isofix base okay. It didn't leave much room in the front with the isofix base though.

Without the isofix base I'd imagine it's fine though for front seat passengers.

Thanks buddy, I'll take a look at the pearl. I've got twins so will have to have one of my boys behind the drivers seat so really need something that isn't going to make me move my seat too forwards.

Not sure if there is any difference in terms of space of the rear seats of the coupe vs convertible. I've had both a 3 series convertible and coupe in the past and the coupe did have more room in the back but not sure about the 6.

Whats your experience been like owning a 640d? I'm finding the car very big and not a fan of the electric steering but surprising how quick it is, not far off a M3.

Yes the 6 does seem quite small in the rear when I compare it to the E92 M3 I had. I'm not sure either what the differences are between the 6 Coupe/cab in terms of rear space...not that much/if any I'd imagine.

I really liked the 6 in terms of ownership and really enjoyed the punch from the engine, like you I felt the steering wasn't great and the car did feel big in car parks etc.

I love the shape of them and I think they look great out on the road, and they have a lovely presence about them. I just found the ride really harsh on the standard suspension with 20" rims/run flats.

I did swap the run flats to normal tyres and the ride was much improved, but I then suffered from three punctures in a short space of time...so I wished I'd just stuck with the run flats!

Hope you enjoy yours. thumbup

My brother picked up e92 m3 and had made a few sniggering remarks about me having a diesel and cannot accept that a 640d can keep up with his m3. As you have had both in the past what's ur view?

As a daily driver I much preferred the 640d because I prefer the performance to be on tap, the M3 frustrated me because all its shove was at the top end of the revs.

The M3 was much more fun in terms of its chassis though, but it's still quite a heavy feeling car like the 640d. It's a little unfair to compare them I suppose, because the 6 series is a GT and the M3 is a sports Coupe, so the M3 should feel livelier in fairness.

The 640d will blitz the M3 initially if rolling, but if the road is long enough the M3 will eventually get by the 640d.

Hi Muddypaws, I'm also considering an F12 and although it won't be our family car, I will need to accommodate a 1yr old (with rear-facing seat) and a 4 yr old (with front-facing seat) from time-to-time and I will need to accommodate people in both front seats.

Have you found any suitable seats yet?!

Hi mate, I only kept my 640d cab for 3 months, was a second car but space at the rear is ridiculous. Rear seats unusable. On the plus side I made 2k profit on it smile
