Was called a tw*t today
Discussion
I cant deny i am a tw*t but to be called it by an angry little man in a park is a bit pertubing...
cycling in on my way to the station just about to enter the park that is before it. on the shared use cycleway (split between pedestrians and cyclists) and a little dog runs in front of me off ist lead. owner a middle aged woman walking along with a little short man in casual, not scummy, clothes in his 50's little goatee bald pushing a folding bike some 15-20ms away. i slam on the anchors, she shouts sorry i shake my head (a dog should not be out of control on a cycle path) and proceed to cross the little humpback bridge over the river into the park. Now this bridge is about 4 pedestrians in width and 5m0's or so long and does say cyclists dismount which no one does unless there's a pedestrian on it. (this is relevant shortly).
As i cycle over the bridge shorty shouts at me:
"why you shake your head you t
t"
i stop and shout back:
"because the dog was not on lead wandering around on a shared cycle path, not under control"
he then responds:
"it needs a walk you tw*t"
i respond:
" it can still walk on a lead".
and set off again, to which he shouts
"no cyclist on bridge" although the word cyclist came out as if someone like Harry Kane had said it, i.e. a bit special...
Getting a peed peed off now, as the bridge is empty and technically i'm breaking the rules as i should have dismounted and probably going to miss my train, i turn around and say:
"whats a 'cyclist'" mimicking his slurring of the word (i shouldn't have done that as he may have had a speech impediment)
he said 'cyclist' again in Harry Kane voice so i said
"i don't know what that is" (hes crossing the bride as im at the end of it now, the dog woman is now gone (not sure where, side path into houses i think),
he then says cyclist clearly and i say yeah but there's no one on the bridge, so im not harming anyone. i then proceed to set off again, but he shouts your a tw*t again.
I stop get off the bike now in the park on the other side of the river. waiting for him.
he comes up calling me t
t again.
"i say why am i t
t"
"cos you are"
"why"
"you are"
at this point mr short ass is in my face. im early 30's, 6.3, and powerfully built director type (powerfully built director at the moment as i porked up over christmas - apprx 14.5 stone at mo)), and i have a beard (not a full on hipster) which according to my latest tinder squeeze a beard which makes me look intimidating despite me being a pussy if push came to shove probably (at least against anyone bigger or who knows what there doing!), so hes clearly not bothered about the physical differences in getting in my face.
he then says
"what are you going to do"
"nothing why would i do anything, just don't call me a t
t"
"but you are"
"why are you so angry, is it short man syndrome?"
"thats what all tall people say say to short people"
"yes that would be because your inexplicably angry and short"
i then cant be a*sed anymore and want to get my train so im not silly late and cycle off to the station. not hearing his next retort.
i hoped to see him at the station as assumed he was heading there, to carry on our little spat but sadly despite greater anglia yet again suffering delays i didn't see him whilst waiting on the platform having locked my bike in the cycle park.
that's it. just a random event. no custard. don't believe me, or say i embellished it if you so wish. not sure what im hoping to achieve in posting other than sharing my strange little run in, maybe wonder why there are so many angry people about?

People who let dogs off the lead that run about wind me up too - I've encountered a similar thing more than once on the way to the pub. Walking along a public footpath, bloke with two little yappy dogs running around, they see me, and they run towards me yapping. "Watch them, they'll nip you" he says. "Then you should keep them on the lead, surely?" I ask. "Oh, they're OK" he says. Well, which is it? Will they nip me, or are they OK? Sure, let them off the lead, in a place where it won't matter to anyone else.
Shaking you head like a girl when someone is breaking a rule (not really a rule though is it) then going and breaking a rule wrote out on a sign does make you a bit weird.
Plus, if you planned on smashing him in when you stopped for a word I could understand your problem, but to cry off and do nothing is pathetic.
