I have been reading all the fabulous stuff on this website

http://www.remap-14cux.uk/gadgets.html

On there "Steve Sprint" recommends using a £30 TOP853 CHIP PROGRAMMER.

I cant seem to find one of for sale at anywhere near that price but can find many other "eprom programmers" ranging fron 10 to 400 quid.

Anyone know whether I can use something other than a TOP853 ?

Well got all the gear and NO IDEA......

Bought
a. 1 of TL866CS chip programmer
b. 10 of EEPROM IC ATMEL DIP-28 AT28C256-15PU
c. Installed software MiniPro v6.60 for TL866cs
d. Installed TunerPro software
e. downloaded a BIN file as recommended by Steve Sprint. http://remap-14cux.uk/bins/TVR_R2967_450.bin

Have now been reading stuff for several days now and concluded that I don't have a clue what I am doing.

What I would like to achieve is to write a copy of the Steve Sprint BIN file to one of the chips as a first step

I need help....................

Hi again, I'm currently working away but once I'm home I'll take a look at my laptop and programmer to remind myself on the programming procedure.

I can then give you some pointers unless anyone else posts in the meantime...

Cheers Tobs

Looks like the issue is the programmer software install. It only lists 1 IC manufacturer GIGADEVICE. I looked on youtibe user vids and their software lists hundreds.
I have MICROCHIP chips.
Have tried firmware reflash in tools but that isnt working its greyed out.

Try this link. I bought this programmer and used it to save programme a new ECU chip on my Griffith 4.0. It was very straightforward and the video helped a lot. I bought a packet of supposedly blank EPROMs off EBay. Turned out they weren’t totally blank. They hadn’t been used but had some code on them so I couldn’t write the file to them. I had to buy an eprom eraser. Got one from Amazon I think. Worked a treat, then I was able to programme a chip.
Good luck.

That is really helpful, much appreciated.

I have bought some chips called ATMEL DIP-28 AT28C256-15PU they don't appear on the list, nearest is AT28CH256.
Programmed it successfully just need to try it in the car.

Only been out for a short drive but it really feels like its a lot quicker. Its a shame Shakey is no more as I have last years time slips to compare it with. Still a 1/4 mile is a 1/4 mole so maybe need to get over to the pod.

Just got word,,,, sending it as it’s cheaper so yes for Long Itch Sunday smile
One of our toughest competitors with a very yellow car Had a few complete engines for spares etc so I’ve relieved him of an induction system that I might eventually port and do throttle mod with. Don’t need it yet or at all really but a nice experiment to see if it alone yields much, not expecting miracles though. I do enjoy the remarkable fuel economy from mine so really not sure yet!
Hopefully you’ll get better figures now too.

You've inspired me.
You've inspired me. I'm planning on removing the precats from a spare set of headers I've bought. I'll be leaving the main cat alone (my primary aim is to reduce the heat generated by the precats.)

If I order these

Chips 10 pack

Does anyone have a suitable bin for no a 450 with precats removed? The kid in me fancies the pops and bangs too. :-)
