Roger Allam's portrayal of character Fred Thursday makes this series for me.
In spades.

What's with the character names - Morse, Thursday, Bright, Strange, Trewlove, Frazil and Fancy all appeared in last night's. Great names but maybe a little whacky? Or is it all down to C. Dexter?
Still, always good to hear a period Zombies track.
I know that "it's only television", but would Morse (and Strange) have been promoted directly from Detective Constable to Detective Sergeant without a period as a uniformed sergeant?
Also, would they have attended the funeral of a police officer, especially one murdered while on duty, in civvies?

Strange was uniform in the first (and possibly second) series and then got promoted to detective making for an awkward dynamic as he suddenly outranked Morse.
We've been watching since the show started a few years ago and absolutely love it however, there are a few things that grate.
Morse's constant will they/won't they relationship with miss Thursday is just irritating, it's dragged on too long now with nothing happening. Also, why did both of Thursday's kids suddenly decide he was a crap dad and didn't want to speak to him? Tonight's episode became a little too far fetched with the class of psychotic school kids, it felt like the demon headmaster at times.
Thursday is a brilliant character and every episode the wife and I spend most of it fearing for his safety, we know Morse will be fine after all!!

I may have fallen asleep last night during a crucial bit..... so what was the relevance of Endeavour's visit to Chief Superintendent Bright's home?
I think it was to tell him that Fancy wasn't shot by any of the people found at the snooker hall so there was still a gunman on the loose somewhere in Oxford...Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
