Porsche Sport Turismo..my first impressions

I have had the Sport Turismo Turbo for a few days now, and is truly is an interesting car:
(1) In normal use, it is extraordinarily quiet. I did order the extra sound insulation on the windows and it seems to have had an effect.
(2) Its very quick. Engine still tight ,but feels like it going to burst out of the car. Great solid roadholding, hurled it round a bunch of curves and very surefooted. Engine definitely has the V8 rumble when pushed and is audible quickly despite insulation. This is a superb long distance car based in first impressions. Nice steering, way better than the first electric stuff.
(3) 911 18 ways seats are immensely comfortable and give great lateral support; Rear is also very comfortable for two. The so-calle third seat is laughably inadequate.
(4) Very high quality interior finish. Mine done in CF and full leather, all black.
(5) Apple talk etc all OK, fairly long menu system ,most of which I will not use once all the basic setup is the way. want it. Voice control not great.
(6) Love the dial on steering wheel that allows you to select normal, sport or sport plus- remaps the shifts and adjust suspension. Changes very clear.
(7) Why does Porsche not have HUD like the great system BMW has?..
(8) Panorama roof front and back make the car quite airy.
(9) Car looks better in reality than in pics, and in my view is the best looking Panamera to date. Love the tail.
(10) The angle of C pillars is extreme...looks great but leaves little improvement in space over the normal car.
(11) Normal Bose sound system more than adequate unless you are a serious audiophile but I had no interest in shelling out serious coin for the upgrade.
Relative to my other cars I expect this car to be used a lot. Will go to Porsche Parade in Missouri in July and then be shipped to Germany for a few weeks, including track days. Of course will not handle like one of my RS, but I expect it will acquire itself honourably. No doubt the personal Canadian plates wil cause multiple stops by Polizei as usual. Right now its in winter rims and not yet run in but by APril/May will be back on summer rims.
Car arrived precisely to see apart from one thing I had forgotten. I had blacked out al chrome and deleted all model designations. Car was specced with matching red wheels, but they came with coloured centre crests. Will need to replace the with black crests.
Overall, this is a car I cannot wait to get on some empty autobahn and a few tracks. Will be a very different experience relative to the cars I have done this with previously. More to come when I get some longer distance experience.

I'm on my second new gen Panamera and both hybrids...My first one was a white saloon which i picked up last July and was brilliant until i saw the Sport Turismo at my OPC's official launch and i immediately fell for it.This resulted in buying a new Sport Turismo in Jet Black which we love and the vestigial rear seat adds a new dimension when you have young kids.
The 4L Turbo is my favourite however in the UK the generous tax breaks make the hybrids a total no brainer from an affordability POV.
I think it looks incredible in Carmine red although personally i would have chosen the black painted Exclusive rims.

I am still keeping my Cayenne and there is zero chance of putting my great Dana in the back...its a very shallow luggage area. I was aware of that prior to ordering the car and causes lots of headscratching at the dealer when I asked for vertical measurements of the rear deckLooks great and good to see a non-SUV (ie. better) practical choice.

Nice write up. I saw both the Panamera and the Sport Turismo at Goodwood this summer and I almost found that the normal Panamera looked better than the Turismo. Both great cars but there is very little difference between to the two to the point where who have to ask why Porsche bothered to make it.

. Performance wise there is no difference and there is only marginal difference in capacity. Purely boils down to the aesthetics. For me, its just a better looking vehicle, but of course this is a very subjective view.
I have had a number of cars in the past where people looked askance..( E63 M6 for instance which some loved but many detested at the time). Luckily there are lots of options

I did the same yesterday. The grip it was finding on summer Pirellis was incredible considering it was 1 degree celsius and with the old flake of snow. You could pretty much use full throttle from the apex onwards. It felt about two-thirds its actual size and almost flickable which I would put down to the four wheel steer. I really didn't find the Sport Turismo any better looking than the standard car but maybe I'm just a pervert. The back of the ST just seems a bit heavy handed visually. But the interior is just superb.
You'll probably never drive it on the road like you would at PEC but it's nice to know that your big autobahnstormer can also do a pretty decent impression of a Mitsubishi EVO 6 with 550 horsepower. Very, very impressive.
