Hi

I currently listen to my music via my computer going through a Teac AG-790 that my dad gave me years ago. I am using a pair Mordaunt Short M10s. The signal from the computer goes via a 3.5mm to phono lead.

Can anyone recommend a more compact amp or a solution that is a little more elegant? All of my music is held locally on my computer.

My budget is limited say <£300.

Thanks

I’ve just bought a Denon PMA-50 for my desk set-up. Nice and compact good sounding DAC/Amp combo.

Input to the DAC is via USB.

It's a nice looking solidly built thing. You can stand it vertically too if space is an issue. The display rotates.

Something like that one posted above which you can connect as a USB DAC is a good idea - you'll probably see a big improvement by cutting the computer soundcard out of the equation as they aren't generally built with musical quality high on the priority list.

yes

Alternatively this gets decent reviews for a lower budget.

NAD 3020 well thought of too.

I listen through a Marantz MCR-511

As well as playing your media server music through Ethernet or Wi-Fi it has USB, digital and analogue RCA inputs as well as internet radio. Airplay and Bluetooth. Remote control and iPhone/Android app

There’s also a version with DAB and CD

Thanks everyone - lots to look at and research.

After a glowing review from Z reviews I am also now considering the TEAC AI-101DA.

Watching amplifier reviews on a Friday night - I'm living the dream smile

ETA: Between the NAD and the TEAC I reckon.
