I’m aware that photocard Driving licences have to be renewed every 10 years. I renewed mine in 2015 got the new one never really looked at it (stupid me lol) but only the other day I had a look at it and it expires in 2020! So they only put 5 years on it. Is it a DVLA error and should I return it to them because they might have got other stuff wrong too?
Also it’s not fair that I’m gonna have to pull £20 or whatever it costs then to get a new one after only 5 years when others get 10 years. I’d advise everyone to check the dates are correct after renewal.

Anyone else had this problem?

What should I do?

Are you by any chance approaching 70? Licences expire the day before your 70th birthday

My guess is that the OP has a bus driver entitlement and is over 45 years old.

I was a bus driver back in the early 2000s but have since changed career. Haven’t been on the buses since about 2006.

You don't need to renew if you don't use the pcv, just get the medical and fill in the forms should you want to get the category back at a later date
