Does such a thing exist as a healthy (i.e not packed with sugar) breakfast/cereal bar either to buy or if not does anyone have a recipe to make them ? Thanks.

Depends. What's wrong with sugar and standard cereal bars?

I could post ingredients for a cereal bar without sugar but it will contain honey and dates which is still sugary and if you're a diabetic still probably no good for you.

Boiled eggs are pretty portable...

Honey is the worst thing for putting sugar in your blood, as soon as it hits your tum it's in your veins

At least if you make the damn things yourself you have an idea of what has gone into them!

Anyhoo, my breakfast bar recipe is based on a Nigella one.

250g oats
1 tin condensed milk
415g of assorted fruit and nuts (good combos are Date+walnut, apricot+cashew, peanut+sultana

Warm the condensed milk in a pan till it is the consistency of single cream. Combine with the other ingredients till they are all fully coated. Line a tin (approx 6"x8") with baking parchment, put in the mix and press it down.

Bake in the oven at gas mark 1 1/2 for an hour.

Take out and let cool for 15 mins before cutting into 12 slices.
