Central London Restaurant Tuesday, Dinner Ideas
Discussion
My wife and I are in London on Tuesday to visit the Surface Design Exhibition and have just decided to catch a later train home so we can fit in an early dinner at a good or Michelin star restaurant.
Currently looking at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Greenhouse and the Ninth which all appear to have availability, any advice on these or other ideas please.

L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon is great. It's not a traditional restaurant - it's all about sitting at the counter and getting lots of small courses of food. My wife and I loved it - both the food and the atmosphere. It's not cheap - taking the record for the most I've ever spent on a meal out - a record previously held by the Waterside Inn.
Update on yesterday.
On Monday evening I was showing my wife the opentable deals on offer and she chose Helen Darroze at the Connaught, £55.00 for three courses including two glasses of wine, I duly booked for 6.30pm.
Dinner turned into lunch though as I got the exhibition start time wrong, we turned up at 11.00am and were told it didn't start until 6.30pm on the first day, a call to the restaurant changed the booking with no problem and a wander around John Lewis filled in the time nicely.
The meal was superb and three courses turns into six by the time you add in the amuse bouche, sorbet and petit fours, we chose eel ravioli and venison tartare as starters, steamed cod and pigeon for mains and both had chocolate for dessert.
Nice surroundings and overall we thought it was really good value, the service was exemplary and just for the pouring show it was well worth the extra £14.00 a glass for the sherry to go with the dessert.

The Ninth would have been my choice. The food is exciting.Currently looking at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Greenhouse and the Ninth which all appear to have availability, any advice on these or other ideas please.
The Greenhouse is good, but a bit formal.
L'Atelier (at the counter) is good, but expensive.
Helene Darroze is good and not too formal for a hotel restaurant.
The Ledbury is still my favourite London restaurant for special evenings though.
