Insurance renewal time and a new Porsche about to arrive
Discussion
Well done on your choice of the new car I have one great cars had it 5 years now .With the value of your car likely be around £47 K to replace best get a policy that will pay out market value in the event of a claim .Most inc Admiral will possibly only pay Glasses guide which is no way close to its true value ..best just try all the top end insurers

I have been using Admiral even for my Gat4 for last few years but would like to ask what other insurers members would recommend as I am about to take delivery of a boxster 987 spyder
try AIB insurance - I had a policy with them last year on a 987 Spyder with agreed value - premium £400. Or try Nowell and Richards just had a good deal via them with Arriva Direct Clients on a 718 BGTS - policy allows choice of repairer and replacement to invoice cost for 3 years (though this applies to first owner of car only but I am sure they could find something suitable for youI tend to get some quotes at renewal, or for a new car, with the Meerkat or similar, then look at who appears to be well regarded in the customer reviews.
Autoexpress have run a survey for many years: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/driver-power...
I'm with NFU Mutual. No interest on monthly instalment (same price as annual payment), roadside assistance as standard, personal service (no online quotes system), one plan covers all cars/drivers. No claims with them so far (touch wood) so I can't say whether the survey is correct.
They are fairly fussy who they insure though.
PS. I'm not a farmer.

I use NFU and, IMO, if they're willing to insure you ( postcode plays a big part) they are excellent.
I've had two claims over the last 4 months both for windscreens on a Macan. Happy for me to use OPC for work for a small excess can't remember how much ( £50?) or go to Autoglass.
Claims about £1800 each (windscreen plus camera alignment and wheel alignment due to fitted options) immediately agreed and settled within a few days.
Competitive premium also, about £350 or C718S and the same for previous Macan Turbo PP.

Not sure what you mean? It's only a Cayman at the end of the day - it's kept locked away and (touch wood) I've never had a single incident or fine or anything on the roads.
But some companies don’t like the combination of sports car, young man and certain postcodes. When I got my 981s I had quotes between 700 and 275.

I just asked AIB for a quotation on a 718 Cayman GTS, as mine arrives in a couple of months.
10 years' no claims, but (I guess because I'm 27) it came out at £2,300.
Absolutely mental money!
Admittedly I am a bit older than you (65) but I just insured my 718 BGTS VIA Nowell and Richards with Arriva Private Clients for £700 this includes settlement to invoice price for 3 years and choice of repairer if the worst happens. It might be worth giving them a call.. I also tried AIB and they were more expensive 10 years' no claims, but (I guess because I'm 27) it came out at £2,300.

I've just dropped them a note - I'll see what they say.RMJ891 said:

I have the same Policy as WG for my new Cayman GTS ( collecting on Saturday next ) .... but over DOUBLE his quote !Reasons .... WD resides in the Countryside and his Boxster is Garaged at home . Whereas I reside in South London and my Cayman is parked outside my house in a private parking bay behind electronic gates ....... Also I am slightly older ( on paper only )
They have offered me a Two Vehicle discount ( pro rata ) when my Alfa comes up for renewal later in the year .
There were two ... perhaps three deciding factors .... Back to Invoice for 3 years of first ownership ( No Gap Insurance required ) . Porsche as approved repairer . RAC cover included . No Tracker required .
Also ... cheaper than AiB . My advice ... Check out Nowell & Richards .
I’ve actually found Admiral very good in terms of prices on multi car.
Have spoken to the likes of AIB and others but they were keen to highlight the optional extras with their policies (courtesy car in case of repairs, etc).
Insurance is an administrative cost IMHO and I don’t need the Rolls Royce of policies. Was hard to justify paying a lot more than Admiral for what I considered to be fluff. Each to their own of course!
As someone had pointed out above, it’s important that the company doesn’t require a tracker fitted (although many Porsche’s now come with VTS as standard?). I wouldn’t want my car back if it were stolen - would likely end up on the register as Stolen/Recovered and the insurance company wouldn’t compensate you for the loss of value.
Just some thoughts!

Fluff, until you need to claim? I take it you never have?Have spoken to the likes of AIB and others but they were keen to highlight the optional extras with their policies (courtesy car in case of repairs, etc).

In 40 years I've claimed, let's see, eight times...
1/ Hit by drunk driver on motorcycle, broken knee & ankle. Total loss (the car, not the leg).
2/ Hit by Australian woman in VW beetle. Bruised leg. Total loss
3/ Hit a bend sign in fog. Repaired
4/ Rear ended. Whiplash. Repaired.
5/ Rear ended. Repaired.
6/ Hit by uninsured driver. Total loss.
7/ Hit by child cyclist. Repaired.
8/ House sitter dropped cool box off garage shelf onto bonnet. Repaired.
The one that stands out was the cyclist. Had no insurance of course and Tesco (UK Insurance) wouldn't pursue the parents under legal expenses cover. You really do need a good insurer to get your money back. The fog claim was the only one which was my fault. My wife always repeats back to me what I said as we entered the country lane, "don't worry, I know this road like the back of my hand"... BANG!
