Apologies if this has been asked before.

Mrs Freak is looking at a lease for her next vehicle but the question arose regarding her private plate and can it be transferred? I'm assuming it can but having had a previous lease I didn't get the V5.

Anyone done this?

It shouldn't be a problem but it will mean the plate will be registered to the lease company on the V5 so make sure you've got somthing in writing and keep your payments up to date or say bye bye. to the plate...!

I have a private plate on mine (leased with VWFS), simple process just fill in a form and pay them their 'admin fee' which was £40 or so I think. My plate was already on retention so all that needed to happen was a change of nominee.

Mercees can put private plate from new and there was no admin fee to remove the plate later. I tried to do the same with WVFS and they said they can't register it, error in the system and said I will have to put it on the car after I collect it on standard plates. I didn't bother with 2 x £50 admin fee for that.
