Hi All,
I have the above mentioned car with 19k miles on the clock, which I have owned since July 17. The gearbox has recently started to judder when pulling away from standstill, subsequently it has been inspected by the Audi dealer whom supplied the car, they diagnosed a replacement twin clutch is required. Apparently this isn't covered by the Audi warranty but thankfully as a gesture of goodwill have agreed to replace the clutch at no cost to me. I'm puzzled that an auto gearbox clutch isn't covered by warranty & the likelihood of this happening again. Has anyone had a similar experience, or can make any comments to put my mind at ease? As 19k miles doesn't seem like a lot for this to happen.
Thanks,
James.

Correct me if I'm wrong but an automatic box doesn't have a clutch. Your car isn't an automatic, it's a dual clutch transmission. Clutches are consumables. Unless it fails prematurely then it's not a warranty item. VWG dsg is the same

If it's similar to a dsg it doesn't surprise me. In my car the box software really does do a lot of clutch slipping to make it smoother. Crawling up a hill, where in a manual I would put it in first and then have the clutch fully engaged, my dsg will have it in 2nd and is slipping through clutch a fair bit by the feels of it. 19k isn't much but I don't think these last as long as a manual clutch.

Of course I may have just failed at the basics of what the Audi box is.....I thought is was the equiv of dsg.

Which is likely why they're replacing out of warranty. Be thankful that they are because I'm sure it wouldn't be a cheap job otherwise...

Does it always judder or only occasionally? Does it make a difference from a rolling start vs stationary?

The judder is mainly noticeable from stationary when I accelerate out of a junction for example.

Sounds to me like it's a clutch pack.
