I'm currently having a think (Something which i don't do very often!)
I've had my Unmodified 1997 MR2 Mk2 now for 5 years and love it. Bought it when i was 20 and am now 25.
It lives in a garage over winter and gets used for sunny weekends , i have a 2007 Swift Sport as a daily.
I'm starting to think of trying something else in the next year or so. I would say my price range would be in the 5-7k range.
I am keen on Nissan 350zs , always been intrigued by them. What do people think of them? anyone had both?
Also happy to hear any other alternatives.

If it's an N/A tin or sunroof model, i'd say move into a tbar turbo, that price will find you an unmolested one, they've jumped up a lot but they've become incredibly rare.
Like you i'm looking for my next car, has to be RWD and fun, i've heard a lot of conflicting about the 350z but to me the looks don't catch me, the engine is insanely road taxed for it's displacement and power as a big negative.
Have to say that if you were to hold onto your MR2 in any guise you'd see fewer and fewer on the roads in the future. Go for a Tbar Turbo and enjoy pop-up lights, a comfy sporty car that hits a good balance between upto-you danger and easy riding distance eating motoring.
edit: Just looked on your profile, it's a tbar, you have insane rarity in that condition pal, i'd either step up into a turbo, or hold onto your N/A the rev4 has the best spoiler and lights as well as having the more forgiving handling that doesn't compromise just how good it is, they sound amazing, they go pretty well fi you're not into traffic light grand prix. Might be a bit biased though haha, i miss mine and it's one of the few cars i'd ever buy again in it's more powerful guise.

The Nissan is a very good underrated car & you can get some very good cars in your price bracket, you have a very good car in the MR2 I'd be tempted to keep it & turn the 350 into your daily. The road tax will be an extra £200 on (if you get a 2006 onwards model) what you pay for the MR2 but you get the best of both worlds.

Or if you have to reduce the budget in order to keep the (3.5k should buy the one below) MR2 you can still get a nice one:

I get that the MR2 is on the verge of being a classic.
But i've had it for 5 years now , there are a lot of cars out there that i would like to drive/own.
Basically , because i bought it at 20 , and am now 25 i kind of feel that i need to try some different cars!
A day may come where we aren't allowed petrol beasties anymore.
