Running machines

All
I have borrowed a running machine (a Pro Fitness JX260) but when I'm running along the belt I run on seems so stall or slip (nearly making me go flying!) so I have tightened up the tension bolts at the rear which has improved things but there is still the odd time it happens so is this because it's not powerful enough, there are worn parts or maybe becuase I run in a peculiar fashion?
I'm really keen to perservere as it's set up in my Home Gymebar (Gym, Cinema and Bar - a thread will appear when finished) and also I am bit porky so I figure I can chuck the telly on or music and jog along rather than sit on the sofa watching telly.
If i can resolve this issue, anyone got any tips for a good running machine that can be folded up out of the way for about £250? is this possible? I'm quite happy with this machine other than the slipping.
Thanks

1. belt not tight enough - if it is old it may be stretched.
2. too much oil on bed
3. you're hitting the belt too hard
3. can you go faster and no 'plod' (if you are plodding)
I bought a Tunturi T20 years ago and it gets hammered by family members - not so much me. I have replaced the belt about a year ago, the belts do wear.
