Can any of you lovely people help me?

I am fast approaching the end of a long journey restoring my 83 350i drophead.
The car is away at final paint and trim fit... I am informed that the beautifully restored dash insert and glove box lid are nowhere to be found.!!!!!

I now face the prospect of replacing these in good time for the upcoming Wedgefest.

Can anybody help me out with these items, does'nt matter if they are cracked so long as they are straight and can be re-veneered.

If anybody has a set but would prefer to keep them, is it possible to borrow them as a pattern?

Really appreciate your help Guys. David Silcock

You can bet your bottom dollar that as soon as you source some replacements, the old ones will turn up.

Having said that the lid isn't difficult to re-make, just a bit of plywood that's been veneered, 19mm should do the trick.

Thanks for the reply Adam,
The guys at the paint shop have apparently looked in every nook and crannie, simply not there.
To say I am a little unhappy is a tad understated, £500 worth of quality veneering by London Carriage Craft dissapears .
The glove box is quite straight forward, dash insert less so.
What ever is done it needs to be trial fitted before veneering, not surprisingly I want it sorted before I take delivery of the car.

RT Racing - Richard Thorpe - was selling some last year. I think he sold out but if you're lucky I'm wrong. smile

Thanks for your input Guy's.
Richard Thorpe is over seeing the project, so I am sure he would be first in line to help if he could.
Peter King, do you have something we can use?
Cheers, David.

Hot off the press, The Guy's at the Paint/Trim shop have found samples of the dash insert and glove box lid.
New profiles can now be cut.
So it would appear we are on the road to a solution.
Thanks for your reply's and look forward to seeing some of you at the Wedgefest, where Annie and I hope to be joining in the fun and not following behind in a Fiat van lol .
Cheers David
