Reliable car £8k other than Lexus
Discussion
7k would get you a 2009 Honda accord 2.4ex from a main dealer. (The last of the 03-08 model range)

Or under 5k for an older one from a trader.
4 cylinder, but around 200hp so similar performance to the Lexus IS.
Has leather, climate, satnav, etc. Build quality excellent.
I ran a 2 litre for a few years, they're great cars - the model that came after was hampered by emissions programming and also bigger though.

Strange question. You can buy pre registered Kia's for 8K with a 7 year warranty. Would that do?
The most reliable car, a Toyota IQ apparently. Hard to spend 8K on one though. http://www.reliabilityindex.com
Now what do you really want? Any Lexus IS250 is not going to be new. Will it be reliable? It might be. It might not be. It might need tyres, brakes and an exhaust the next time you take it for an MOT. Which you can ignore if you wish, "consumables, innit". Or you could buy a new car, which will have all of that brand spanking (or near as).
So what's the actual question?

I had one of these, had no mechanical issues and they’ve got a good reputation for reliability. Very different to a Lexus though. https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

That is true, but then at £8k its the gamble you take. I am just looking for something that wont cost a lot over the years. But I could go brand new but I am not sure what to go for?The most reliable car, a Toyota IQ apparently. Hard to spend 8K on one though. http://www.reliabilityindex.com
