As the title states - I'm looking at upgrading from my '08 Golf GT Sport 170.

I have about £12k to spend and looking at going petrol this time as my work commute is only 18miles on fun A/B roads each way.
Golf GTI seems my perfect car; nice cabin, fun yet sensible, and with the Dynaudio upgrade - I'll be happy.

I'm finding my budget could stretch to either a Mk6 GTI with around 60/70k miles, or a CatD Mk7 with 30k ish miles.

I realise CatDs could be a bit risky, but would do my homework before buying. I also know I might have more of a problem selling when I look to upgrade in 3-4 years time... Am I missing anything else?

The Mk7 is a much better car than the Mk6, which is basically a Mk5 underneath anyway with a slightly different engine.

aslong as your aware it will be like aids to shift when you want to get rid of it!

personally id never be keen on a 'cat' car, maybe save abit more, be prepared to travel and should be able to get a straight one soon at your budget
