Ashdown Forest has its fair share of adders ![]()
Not that I've ever seen one...
*phew*
I can't stand snakes or worms!
An animal sanctuary lady client of mine mentioned today that adders had killed adults, she said. IIRC they hadnt.
See, I was thinking of bringing one to the next meet, and lobbing it into your chim Cosmos, being the thoughtful chap I am though, I just didnt want to kill you

Whose got adder stories? Facinated by snakes, always enjoy hearing stories. I did have a question though - have any adults in the UK actually been killed by adders?
I suspect a big adder, if allowed to hold on for long enough could kill a very old person with a dicky ticker. It would be able to kill a baby for sure...
A "normal" adult? Highly unlikely.
We have dozens and dozens of grass snakes in our hedges and along our stream. When the sun is out you hear (and then see) them slither off. On a good day you can see 10 or 15 in a 100 yard stretch of hedgerow. Good for keeping the frog and mouse population down, if you don't like that sort of thing.

...its laydeez night, and the feelings right, oh yes its laydeez night, oh what a night...

aaah, thanks rascal. ill just add that to my diary under 'things i regret mentioning to on PH #347' (sub-category: When Rascals Listening).
the only thing i ever learned as a fitness instructor was how to use the lie 'no, of course your bum doesn't look big in that' convincingly. a poor performance in this category at home it results in no sex for two weeks, a poor performance in the gym results in the house being repossessed.
and rascal, your bum does look big in that. but i like it

Same same - my first roadkill was an adder!

Perhaps I should rephrase that!
