Medium sized car £8k

So I’ve decided on a few cars that I like. I’m going to go and look at a Lexus IS250 SE-L on the weekend. But I am also curious to find out what else I could get. Would rather have reliability and a nice comfy car, than a hot hatch.

So can anyone recommend a nice car for £8k please. It’s also my first time with an auto, but I don’t do much mileage about 5k a year.

Another car I thought of was a Mercedes C class. Not sure what they are like the petrol engines?
