Removing drivers that aren't ther
Discussion
e
I had a load of trouble with my PC a bit back where the hdd died, I (with the help of malman and plotloss) managed to get the thing working again but suffered a corruption in the config file which resides in system32 somewhere. I replaced it using the repair console and have subsquently been working replacing drivers and re-installing programs that appear to be causing some trouble and now most things appear to be working well (apart from Windows keeps crashing but I think thats hardware related - it's working ok for my dissertation at the moment).
The main problem I have is that I cannot for the life of me get my iPod to connect - it just won't do anything. It's beeps when connected to the dock as per usual and "charges" from the firewire connector (motherboard) but will not show up on the PC at all. It's a Gen 3, 15Gb if thats any help and plays music ok, it's just I can't get any of my new CD's on there (the ones I really want to listen to as well
)
I've tried removing the driver from windows, I've reset the iPod, I've changed ports etc and it just won't spot it. So before contemplating installing the old firewire card I have (PCI that used to be in the old machine) or waiting until Uni is finished and taking the drastic action of formating / re-installing everything I thought I'd ask if anyone had any ideas
Cheers.
